Elders partnership brings new opportunities for farmers.

Australia’s most trusted agribusiness Elders (ASX:ELD), and emerging carbon farming specialist Carbon Fix, have agreed to initiate a partnership which will unlock opportunities for Australian farmers in building carbon farming projects to complement their farming operations.

Through a pilot project in Goulburn and surrounding regions of NSW, Elders and Carbon Fix are combining forces to support farmers take advantage of the carbon farming market.

Leveraging the deep agricultural know-how of Elders with the innovation and localised approach of Carbon Fix, the two companies are committed to supporting farmers in understanding the complexities of carbon farming and enabling a ground-breaking project offering to take advantage of this new, expanding market.

Elders Executive General Manager Strategy, Sustainability and Innovation, Anna Bennett said, “Through a collaborative effort, Elders Carbon Farming and Carbon Fix are providing an extensive portfolio of personalised carbon farming services for farmers in the Goulburn region.

“We know there is a lot of interest in carbon farming. However, a number of barriers are limiting farmers’ participation in this emerging market, such as product knowledge, trust in service providers, and the cost to establish a project.

“Through a partnership approach, we will be providing a range of new and exciting pathways for local farmers to overcome these barriers and start building carbon farming projects into their farming operations.”

Nigel Kuzemko, Carbon Fix Managing Director and Founder, said, “As Carbon Framing becomes mainstream, Elders Carbon and Carbon Fix both see strong growth potential in supply of carbon credits from Australian farms to meet the increasing demand from Australian industry and ultimately international markets for high integrity carbon credits.

“Carbon farming can enable the dual benefit of a new income stream at the same time as delivering sustainability outcomes. We’re focused on supporting farmers through the process of establishing carbon farming projects and we’re excited about working alongside Elders.”
